Each EPS Sandwich Panel is composed of several layers. The inner core provides heat insulation, while the outer and inner steel cladding and coatings protect the panel from mechanical damage and corrosion.
Depending on the desired result, the length, thickness, core type, profile, protective coating, and cladding color of the sandwich panel will vary. For example, select the core wire type to meet specific insulation and protection requirements.
Panel core materials usually use three basic variants-EPS, mineral wool, and polyurethane. Other core variants have been developed, such as phenolic foam, which contains a mixture of EPS and phenolic resin to improve fire resistance.
In this article, we will study the performance of sandwich panels with expanded polystyrene and mineral wool cores.
Eps Sandwich Panel
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) core
Expanded polystyrene has become one of the most commonly used insulating cores due to its economical and versatile properties. EPS cores have excellent insulation properties and are ideal for buildings that require cost-effective thermal insulation.
In terms of fire resistance and fire reaction, the EPS core is inferior to the mineral wool core. However, as long as it meets the basic requirements, flame-retardant (FR) polystyrene can be successfully used as an economical flame-retardant solution.
Mineral wool core
It is recommended to use mineral wool core to achieve strict fire resistance and to minimize potential losses due to fire. It can also be used to provide excellent sound insulation to limit excessive noise.
Mineral wool core not only has a fire hazard but also has too much harmful noise. It is a non-combustible material and requires a rated fire rating of up to 60 minutes, which will delay the spread of the fire and prevent further fire.
According to application requirements, construction contractors and engineers can use flame-retardant (FR) grade EPS and mineral wool sandwich panels at the same time to improve fire resistance, heat insulation, and sound insulation performance.
We are an EPS Sandwich Panel manufacturer. All panels are automatically mass-produced, and the shape, thickness, length, and width are the same and can be customized according to customer requirements.
